THE FARRIER, LONDON, UK

Ambient atmosphere abounds in this iconic building in hip Camden, North London. The beautifully restored Grade II listed former horse hospital and stables were transformed into a pub and restaurant, with two huge arches, barrel vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls serving as a characterful backdrop.

The pub interior design is in the style of a relaxed and traditional tavern, with a period-style wooden bar. Mellow-toned, worn leather sofas and chairs provide comfy seating, while cage retro wall sconces inject an industrial vibe. In the restaurant, an eclectic décor is evoked with mid-century-style hairpin leg tables teamed with mismatched classic wooden chairs. A bespoke wine wall and industrial-style open kitchen are noteworthy design elements. Acknowledging the building’s heritage, stable doors across the width of each arch open onto a patio, where repurposed horse troughs are transformed into gas fire-pits that enhance the alfresco experience.

THE DESIGN
